Preliminary Results

We had the bone marrow test today. On our way home Lyric spikes a fever of 39.8. So we came back the hospital. When we arrive, the Ocologist comes to see us with the results from the marrow test. There are NO leukemic cells!!! Ya!

So the reason behind his counts not coming up is this lingering infection. And chances are it may be the same one, in his line. So they may have to pull it this time.

Also, he may not be having his last round of chemo.. apparently if there is too much of a time gap between treatments it doesn't make sense to do it because it won't have the right effect.

So it's just a waiting game again to see the test results and to see how long this treatment will be..

Phew! I AM SO RELIEVED!

  1. Sarah, this is great news, no leukemic cells.
    What is the next step?
Waiting for what, aren't the test results all in?
If they pull the line out, will Lyric need another pick line?

It's too bad about the fever, but that can be taken care of. Hang in there...he'll get through this like he has conquered so much already!
Take care, and I'm keeping those fingers crossed!!!

  5. Sarah that is great news that it has not come back! If this enfection keeps lingering and they keep thinking it is the line then it seems like they should take it out!? Thinking of you always. Love and Hugs Tara

  6. Thanks everyone..

We have to wait until end of day today or tomorrow to see if there is a bug growing in any of the cultures they took. Once they determine the bug, they will change antibiotics and decide what to do. If they take out the hickman, they will put in a pick line... and that's IF they decide to do his last round of chemo.

He's doing great today.. his fever has subsided, he's eating.. and is hating that he has to do math here at the hospital.. hehe

  10. WOW Sarah!! If they pull the tube and clear up the infection and decide not to do more chemo you could be through this tunnel of hell. I can't wait to hear another good update about how things are going..
